Following a relapse of her mental health in 2015, Claire Henson found navigating public spaces nearly impossible. Busy city centres with limited facilities or places to seek refuge and support, left her feeling isolated and sometimes unable to leave her house.
Her solution? The Anxiety Map Programme, which shows supportive venues around town and city centres that offer a place to catch your breath, use the facilities, or even just get a glass of water!
After failing a job interview due to unstable Wi-Fi in his tower block, Abdi and his friend Mohamed realised that many others in similar communities would be experiencing the same issue, as work and education moved online during the Covid-19 pandemic.
They decided to create a sustainable community Wi-Fi system, specifically designed for tower blocks, to help increase speed and accessibility, whilst reducing the cost for the customer.
Claire’s recent experience of the menopause left her feeling unsupported and uninformed. After struggling to get advice from her GP and finding that symptom-tracking apps were not inclusive, she reached out to friends and discovered they also encountered difficulties in understanding their symptoms.
Identifying the gap in support, Claire created ChangeXtra, a service providing counselling, coaching, peer support and access to learning to empower women going through the menopause.
